Michaelsen Reunion

We had an amazing time with the Dad's family for our reunion. For 4 days, all of the Michaelsens, their spouses & kids were at Grandma & Grandpa's house in Warrensburg, MO. They live on 26 acres that include a zip line, a 3 acre pond stocked with fish, a fire pit, a walking trail, and a newly-remodeled house with plenty of room. We had almost 50 people - including the Dad's aunt & 91 year-old grandma from Utah. It was definitely crazy, but SO fun!

It was the first time we'd all been together where the only thing on the agenda was being together and having fun. The 25 grandkids were never bored! We ate, and ate, and ate, and ate...lots of yummy food. Everyone took a turn fixing meals & there was no shortage of homemade cookies, brownies, lots of ice cream, and Grandma's famous cinnamon rolls in between. The kids played tea party, dress-up, pool, legos, and also played lots outside. In the hot afternoons, everyone headed to the pond for swimming, floating & boating. There were plenty of fish for everyone to have a turn to drop in a line. Our kids loved fishing! The Buddy went down the zip line 8 times, and loved it. We also had a family swim meet. It was great to see what good swimmers some of the nieces & nephews are. Even Grandma Michaelsen was in the pool. The Dad lost to our oldest nephew, but it was close! We had a Fancy Nancy party (girls), a Racer Randy party (boys), talent show, an unbirthday party, family pictures, and also spent a night listening to the Dad's grandma tell stories from her childhood.

One little note about her - she and her husband, who passed away 2 years ago - weren't married in the temple, but decided shortly after they were married to go back to church. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple. They had 5 children who lived to adulthood. Those 5 children had 32 grandchildren & we think there are over 90 great-grandchildren. And a great many of those are active in the church and have served missions. What a legacy!

We had such a great time! We miss everyone already and hope the next two years go by quickly until we can all come together again.
