We are also so incredibly blessed that the Buddy is in an Autism K-1 class AT OUR NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOL! And, one of the best parts about that is we can WALK! This is a huge deal for our family because ever since the Buddy started preschool 3 years ago, we have had to drive to school and usually it's been a drive of 15-20 minutes one way. We feel so blessed that a class opened at the school down the street that meets the Buddy's needs and there was a space for him (okay, really we probably had priority over anyone else because it's our neighborhood school and that's always where they try to place a child first).
So, when the time came this morning, we snapped a few pictures and set out on our walk to school. The Dad was able to go into work a little late so he could come with us on the first day. The Buddy practically skipped all the way to school. We have gone down to that school a lot on the weekends just to let the kids play on the playground, so it's a spot he knows well. As soon as we got to his classroom, he turned around and said. "Bye Mommy! Bye Daddy! Love you!" And that was our cue to exit. He didn't even leave me enough time to feel sad that my baby is in Kindergarten!
The end of the day report was he did well (read: no tears), but the schedule is a big change for him and will take him some time to adjust. Boy was he a little tired and super hungry when we got home! It's a longer school day and the work is more demanding of him - all good things though. Good job Buddy!

Way to go Spencer! And, way to go Mom surviving the summer!
That is awesome that you have such a kindgarten program at your neighborhood school. I'm happy to hear that Spencer is enjoying it thus far!
Yay, Spencer!!! He has hit so many huge milestones lately (losing teeth, starting kindergarten) I can't believe how grown up he is getting. We love you guys. Congratulations!
