About a year after we moved to California, we found out about Apple Hill, an association of apple growers in Placerville - about 2 hours from us, in the Sierra foothills - and every fall the orchards open up to the public. They sell amazing varieties of apples we don't usually see in the stores, fresh cider that you can watch get pressed, yummy pies and even unbaked ones you can put in your freezer to enjoy throughout the year, and of course, lots of yummy food! We just eat our way through the day - apple donuts, apple fritters, corn dogs, tri-tip sandwiches, carmel apples. This year, we enjoyed a beautiful Saturday at Apple Hill. It was unseasonably warm - we couldn't believe we were wearing short sleeves and still feeling warm in the middle of November! The kids had fun and it was also nice to have our friends the Ludlows with us. The girls rode horses, The Buddy did a hay stack maze with the Dad. It was a gorgeous day and we had a great time! Until next year...

This sounds wonderful! I love apple products.
Woohoo! Our first mention & pictures (that I know of) on someone else's blog! :) We had a great time too! Thanks so much for letting us come along!
That is one place we totally missed out on. Steve went there growing up, but somehow we never made it in the several years that we lived there. I'm bummed!!
