Trick or Treat!

We had a really fun Halloween. It kind of felt like all our festivities were packed into just a few days, rather than being spread out over two weekends. I bought the kids' costumes last year when they were on sale after Halloween. The Princess was so excited to be Cinderella - she talked about it all year! And I was surprised how well the Buddy did with his Jack Sparrow pirate costume.

Our first activity was the costume parade & party at the Buddy's school. The Princess was so excited to wear her costume & participate too. We walked around the playground with the Buddy's class and the other first grade classes. It was fun to see everyone's costumes. Then, we went in for some treats & songs. This is the Buddy's teacher with some of her students.

That night was our church Halloween activity - a Trunk or Treat. It was fun to get the kids dressed up again. This time, with some Bibbidi Bobbidi Bo ( glitter hairspray and a touch a make-up), the Princess really looked like Cinderella. Her favorite part of the costume was the glass slippers! She LOVED them!

The Princess seemed a little nervous at the Trunk or Treat going car to car to ask for candy. She warmed up to it eventually and she had so much fun seeing her friends. Here's her little friend Taylor, who was Snow White. And of course we saw Baby Cody, the Lion.

Once we got inside, we caught up with her best little friend Lauren, who was the Cat in the Hat. These girls are so silly together.

On Halloween, the Dad had left for his big trip already, so my dad (Grandpa) and my sister-in-law, Melissa, came over to help me take the kids trick or treating. A little note: As much as I love daylight savings time and that it last longer now, it does seem strange to start out on Halloween when it's still light, but we left at 6:30! Grandpa helped us light the pumpkins, although the Buddy thought it was great fun to blow them out. Again. And. Again.

Once Melissa (and her dog Rupert) came, we started out. Here's the first door. I was impressed that the Princess walked the whole time, albeit and little slow, in her glass slippers. They even lit up when she stepped. Later, we saw Jimmy, our neighbor and one of the Princess's preschool buddies.

I'm always amazed at how we don't go very far, but still come home with so much candy. Happy Halloween!

Fun, fun. The costumes are so cute. I'm afraid I'm a little burned out on Halloween costumes, but fortunately we have a LOT of costumes stored up from years past, so the boys just break out the costume boxes and figure it out for themselves. Glad you all had a good time!
