How Does Your Garden Grow?
I have to brag a little about our garden - because I've had very little to do with it. The Dad has worked hard this last year to get a sunny spot on the north end of our yard ready for a garden. This is the first year we've had one because it took a lot of work to get it ready. The Dad comes from a family that are master gardeners. Every summer, his family would plant rows and rows of green beans, lots of tomatoes and numerous zucchini & summer squash plants. All the kids would work in the garden every day. So he's had a lot of experience!
We also started composting last fall so that we could mix that in with our lame, clay-like soil and hope something would start to grow. In the spring, he started planting like crazy - zucchini, summer squash, tomatoes, cucumber, bell peppers, carrots and even a pumpkin we didn't know we had! We think it actually came from our compost and we are going to have at least 10 well before Halloween (it started growing too early). The Princess loves to be out with the Dad in the garden "helping".
So over the last month, all of his hard work has started to pay off as we have been enjoying carrots, zucchini & summer squash. The tomatoes just started turning red and there will be cucumbers ready soon. It's definitely an experiment, and there are things I know he's do differently next year, but it's been fun to finally have a garden!

That's awesome- there's nothing like eating something you've grown yourself (or at least watched your loving husband grow :)!!)
